Since their onset ten years ago, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band has gone through many changes. What started as a party later grew into a band, evolved into a sound, and eventually emerged as an institution. In 2012, the group is ready to shake the world, one cheek at a time. With Doin' It Hard, their second studio album released last fall, they reflect on their approach to music, touring, performing, recording, and simple life in general. Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band recorded the album at the City of Progress Studios in Miami, FL with DC Le Spam (Andrew Yeomanson) over the summer of 2010. The album is a next-generation and redefined take on their music coming into a new decade. Their awe-inspiring live shows, powerful original compositions, and crowd-pleasing presentations have helped the group build a solid nationwide fanbase.
In 2007, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band released their first official studio release, Now You Know, to critical acclaim. The group received "Album Of The Year" and "Band Of The Year" awards from Home Grown Music Network, and the #3 best regional album from WNCW, one of the nation's top Triple A stations. The Onion also gave them the honor of naming them one of the Worst Band Names of 2007. With several national tours now under their collective belt, the band's hard work has also earned them headlining spots at festivals from Wakarusa, Jam Cruise, Bear Creek, Jazz Aspen, and Bele Chere (for six consecutive years), among many others. Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band is Lee Allen (drums), Mary Frances (keys, vocals), Greg Hollowell (tenor sax, bari sax), Derrick Johnson (trombone), Al Al Ingram (bass, vocals), and JP Miller (guitar, vocals).
